You did that yourself? WOW!
The best DIY projects are simple ideas that you actually can do yourself, and not for the first time during the week before your wedding. Stamping the invites, making hand tied jars of hand squished jellies for favors? Great idea; do them months ahead. Making your own bouquets the day before? Not so great.
Doing a bunch of pies or cupcakes or little wedding cakes? You can make your own fabulous, antique-y looking stands by gluing gorgeous antique plates to crystal candlesticks of differing heights. OR you can glue them to the bottom of tall wine glasses or champagne flutes and fill the bottoms with flowers or shells or peacock feathers!
There is almost no visual faux pas that cannot be covered up with tuile, burlap, muslin or ticking. Fabric is your friend.
I'm loving bistro style brown kraft paper or white butcher covered tables instead of linens. Keep in mind that the tables underneath need to have nice legs.
