Exactly why is a wedding reception four or five hours? Because that's the way it is? Maybe not. When I hear couples discussing adding lawn games, choreographed entertainment, plasma TV's and game shows to their weddings, I start to think that maybe the receptions are just too long.
Cocktail hour, intros, three courses and some dancing? Three to four hours should do it. The time doesn't drag; you don't need extra entertainment and the dollars that takes, and everyone leaves wanting just a little bit more party instead of thinking, "is this ever going to end?" And isn't that a lovely way to end the night?
