It sounds like such a great idea! A holiday wedding; to celebrate Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Labor Day.....you might even get a little break from your venue is you consider the Thursday, Friday or Sunday night or Monday wedding. But that's not the only expense that might be part of the plans, both for you and your guests.
If you're in a tourist area (the Jersey Shore, the Poconos) you may find that hotels are more expensive, and require a minimum amount of nights to stay. Catering, flowers and bands may be more expensive because staff typically gets paid more. Even guests (and you) who are traveling will spend more on gas because the traffic will be brutal. Flights are more. It all adds up, and in the end, it may not be worth planning a holiday wedding....unless it's your own holiday! National Popcorn Day anyone?
To everyone in the military, past and present, gracious thanks and grand respect for your service.
